One of the best things about this time of the year is the people put in their best effort to fix up their homes, stores, shops, restaurants, gardens or whatever they own to make it look more than presentable.
The stores become very inviting and even if you don’t intend to buy something, looking around the store becomes fun. You don’t even have to be looking at the selling items, you can just be in the store looking at the way the employees fixed up the store, for example, the furniture and the paintings hanging on the wall.
And if you never go inside a store your eyes would be satisfied just from “window looking”.
The best example is Lord and Taylor with its museum like Christmas window decorations. People actually stand in long lines to s see huge dolls ‘sing’ in Christmas carols.
But Lord and Taylor is one of a kind. Always, one of a kind.
This picture I took last year. It’s the display window of Steve Madden. It’s a hill of shoes made out of a Christmas Tree.
My new project is taking pictures of store windows and their decor for this season.
I will judge each store on a scale from 1-10. 10 being the highest. The stores will be tested on the following:
Furniture (is it inviting, does it say something about the hoildays)
Photography (is it a great picture, do you have to look twice at the photo)
Colors (are they colors of the season)
Manicans (the color, what it’s wearing)
Style (is the Manican in style)
