Used to Be Couple

So, this is a photo of two of my fellow classmates from undergrad. We met in Fordham University’s inter-campus van. I had my camera and wanted something to photograph and they were sitting in front of me in the van, cozy and what-not. So, when we got to the Lincoln Center campus I asked them if I could photograph them.

Not only did they say yes, but they followed me to the St. Peter’s Church and the Time Warner building. I was able to use them to make a lot of my photo ideas to come to life. Of all the pictures I took of them, this is one of my favorite.

When I presented their photos to my photo class, my teacher said: “One thing about taking pictures of couples is when they split, where do the pictures go?”

I was on facebook the other day and saw that the girl had listed someone else as her boyfriend. I am not sure if they still like the pictures but I do.

If the photo is a great picture, the photographer will keep it and cherish it regardless if the couple is still a couple or not.

Make-Believe Couple

This picture is a make-believe couple. It’s of my friend Fariso and a French guy who we met while we were downtown. We were walking to Lincoln Center and I was taking pictures of things that stuck out to me. The French guy was standing there waiting for a friend and he looked like a model…which I found out later that he was. I asked if I could take a picture of him and he allowed me too. My friend jumped in the photo and afterwards declared how ‘sexy’ he was.

Couples

This is a photo of two of my friends from undergrad, Ceci and Brain. Not many of my friends who were dating in college stayed together long enough to make their friends think the word marriage.  However, if I had to pick a couple from my college experience that reminded me of Dwanye Wayne and Whitley Gilbert from A Different World, I would pick them only because of how long they dated. And if I am not mistaking, I think they are still together.

Couples

This is a couple I met while I was in the city with my sisters.

They stopped us because they liked the way we were dressed. They thought we were from a different country and were surprised to learn that we were from the Bronx (I am not sure why they were so surprised).

The husband, who was really drunk, told me he was also a photographer and gave me his information while his wife kept pulling him away.
