The Final Stop

A question I had on my mind for a while has been answered by The New York Times.

Where do old Subway cars go?

When I started studying photography and saw a lot of Martha Cooper shots of New York in the 1970’s, I wondered where the tagged up, old and dirty train cars went.

When I started taking the train, I expected to ride in some of the graffiti and dirty cars  that many people spoke about; however, it turned out that I missed it all by a few years . I’ve been in some old cars but not as dirty as the ones in the pictures.

According to the New York Times, the MTA dumps the old train cars into “the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, somewhere off the coasts of six states up and down the Eastern Seaboard.”
