Miss Adjoa Love-Dorsey of Philly

At the African American Children’s book fair this pass weekend, I bumped into the most coolest people.

Pictured here is Miss Adjoa Love-Dorsey. She is a teacher of life…okay, really a science teacher but she prefers the previous term to describe her profession.

The dress she has on is vintage. It is by a black designer company from the 70’s… H.A.B.O. means Helping All Brothers Out. The dress has a cute hood attached but she didn’t put it on, fearing it would take away from her look. Note her 70s hair style.

H.A.B.O. is now out of business. I googled them but nothing popped up.

I wonder how much her dress is worth…

  1. Hi. My name is Michelle Devlin. Adjoa was my next-door neighbor more than 20 years ago and I’ve been trying to find her-to no avail. When I came across this picture I was excited. She is truly a teacher of life. It was a joy knowing her. Hope I can get back in touch with her some day. Thanks for sharing.

    • Hi Michelle! I am glad I was able to help you out just a little! I think you should visit Philly soon. The next African -American book fair is coming up in February. She just might be there again!
