One of the ways the Mary Mitchell Center is funded is through grants.
In the evening after the programming of the day, the center runs a martial arts program. Children and adults in the neighborhood are introduced to a special kind of self defense that helps to build confidence and self esteem. This program gets its support from the Laureus Sports for Good Foundation.
The past few years, Laureus sent over patrons to volunteer at the center. They did everything from working in the garden to paining benches in our back yard.
The best part of the day is when Andy’s Italian Ice truck pulls up and everyone lines up to get a free icy.
