Notice how most of them are boys. I only have 2 girls in my class this year.

Trip to Fordham University

Last month I took my kids to Fordham University to see what college is really like.

They had so much fun, they all said they couldn’t wait to go to college.

This is a picture of Fordham’s Library.

One of the librarians at the library whom I met when I was a freshman at Fordham

Is standing there smoking a cigarette

We had just had a conversation about smoking.

He is like in his seventies and was smoking since he was a child

He said he smokes 4 packs a day!

And now he is looking to retire.

He said all he is going to do is smoke, eat and die.

I wonder if it is too late for him to even try to stop smoking?

Graduating in Style

This past weekend, a handful of my friends graduated from my alma mater, Fordham University. I had no idea that graduations were the events to attend for good Fashion photography . I cannot forget the images I saw on Saturday! I mean the hats, the do’s and the don’ts, the tacky wacky to the fashionistas and of course I won’t forget the men and the suits, shirts, ties, bow ties…I felt I was at a fashion show. It was amazing and just camera time. But I couldn’t stop and snap. I had to be there for my friends. Thank God one of them is a fashion diva herself and made graduating so much  ‘funner’!  I set through a ceremony which I am glad I did because the speeches were very motivational. (The president of Ireland was the speaker…the fact that it is a lady president is what made the graduation even more special). Two things that stuck with me was something that one of the student speakers said: remain teachable and set the tone for your own story.

Which is what my dear friend is doing with her style. She is setting her own dressing tone. Notice her bold color and her ability to wear it and feel good about standing out. Also, the hair pulled to one side of the head is a style not to many can pull of without looking childish but she does it well. She had on yellow shoes and yellow ear rings to match but I like this photo the best. Her confidence is something one can see. And it makes you smile and think about graduating.

Hats or Hatsnot

I saw one of  my counselors  at an Awards ceremony and just loved her hair style. It was pulled back into one bun almost. Very elegant. She said a friend of her’s is getting married and that day was the day the bridesmaids tested the hair style. I guess to see how long it would stay in.

The best part is you can rock this style with or without a hat. The challengingLisa's Hair part is it looks kind of hard to do…

Modest Dressing

On Friday, I went to an award dinner at Fordham University. I sometimes like going to events where people are forces to dressed up. When a person dresses up you get to see their true style. And my eye is always searching for something modest. There is a such thing as modest fashion. Something elegant and warm. Not over or under-dressed.

Last year when I was at my award dinner I couldn’t help to notice the lack of style among my fellow colleagues. They were dressed like they were attending a club. I got a kick out of watching the Jesuits Brothers trying their best not to turn around when the ladies walked by.

Anyways, I took a picture with one of the presenters of an award. I really liked her outfit. Modest
