York under Siege 1781

IMG_0956

While walking on the beach, we came across a cave!

Apparently,  in 1781 during the American Revolution war, the French-American forces closed in on the British army in Yorktown and bombarded the town with their combined artillery. It was then that the townspeople sought shelter under this cave and even the British commander, Lord Cornwallis, moved his headwaters nearby.

Even though it is still there, we were looking at the foliage and realize that some of it is fake.

Feather and Fin

Friday night we took a long drive to Norfolk.

Before we went back home, we visited Feather and Fin which reminded me of a southern style chicken spot.

This was my first time tasting fried pickles ( to me it was very spicy) and hush puppies (which is like cornmeal hash browns).
