Smooches!

Smooches

Characters in this story: Boy, Girl, Forth Grade Class

Boy and Girl walks on to the train.

Boy: Awww, man! You can’t be serious! (He says while he looks around at the fourth grade class) I’m about to go to a different car.

Girl: Oh, yeah. For real. I know. (She’s in total agreement)

The fourth grade class is not making much noise. They are talking amongst themselves.

The boy and girl then stand together against the door and touch each other frequently. He touches her head with his lips or rubs her arm. Nothing expedient but all the while showing affection.

The fourth grade class becomes interested.

They start whispering amongst themselves and making kissing noises.

This makes the boy and the girl stop showing any type of affection.

In the photo is a little boy laughing and whispering to the little girl next to him. He doesn’t want the couple to know what he is saying. Every now and then, he peeps over his paper to check to see if they are kissing.

Next time I get on the train, and am annoyed at a couple for kissing continuously, I’ll just make sure I bring an army of fourth graders.

is my train here yet?

Is the train here yet?

Gosh, when is this train gonna come?

the train we sing about, you know, the one that will carry me home.

Gosh, when is this train gonna come?

the train that keeps on rolling right along with all the perfect people on board

Gosh, when is this train gonna come?

I got all this luggage, baggage and gear

I aim to let go of my frustration, worry and fear

well, is the train here yet?

Gosh, when is this train gonna come?

You, know this world is not my home.

I want to go home but I need the train to come and pick me up

huh? what you say conductor? this train carries everybody?

oh, this is not the train to heaven?

it’s the train to Jay street?!

huh?

okay, well, I guess I’ll go to heaven soon. Right now, I’ll visit my earthly home on Jay Street.

Hats and Hoodies

This is one of the last photos I took of the young men on Crotona Ave and one of my favorites because their colors really pop out here. When I say colors, I don’t only mean the color of the hoodie but one can almost guess their personalities. All of them are in a jolly mood but some are more jovial than the others and it shows in this photo.

Also notice that all of them have something on their heads except the one in the middle with the white. But it is fine that he doesn’t have anything on his head because  he brings out the photo well. He seems to be a person who likes to make others smile and one can pick that up by his pose. It’s cool. It’s laid-back. It’s suave. His pose, his color, and his outfit balance the photo completely.

In addition, look at the young man in the orange. His attitude and tone is what draw one’s eye to the photo. Not only is his hoodie the brightest but his smile is full.

Because the young men are all  standing where they are standing, the photo becomes symmetric with the building and the light pole behind them.

CHAMPION

Champion

Wake up in the morning,
Just to face another day,
It seems no matter how hard you try to find it,
Nothing goes your way,
You look into the mirror,
And see the stranger once again
And then you find yourself a little lower,
Than you were when you began,

But you better get up,
And know that your not alone,
Dont let them get you down,
You gotta be strong,
And even though you get tired,
You gotta let it be known,
That the Heart Of A Champion,
Champion baby moves on

You wonder how it all arrived,
And the sorrow makes you cry,
You start to take when you know you should be givin,
Give up on you to try,
You look into the mirror,
And see the stranger once again,
And then you find yourself a little lower,
Than you were when you began.

But you better get up,
And know that your not alone,
Don’t let them get you down,
You gotta be strong,
And even though you get tired,
You gotta let it be known,
That the Heart Of A Champion,
Champion baby moves on
Tho’ It’s hard and you can’t find your way

know that in time those walls will fall down

lift you up to a higer place

So, you better get up,
And know that your not alone,
Dont let them get you down,
You gotta be strong,
And even though you get tired,
You gotta let it be known,
That the Heart Of A Champion,
Champion baby moves on

I was rushing to pick up some items for a photo-shoot I have coming up when all of sudden I saw that the city was redoing the street. The construction men had already finished their job and was planning to open up the street to traffic. I thought, gosh, this will be a great moment to take pictures of someone right in the street.

The sun was shining correctly in every corner  and I was standing around waiting for the right moment. (Yeah, I stopped rushing for a bit of inspiration).

That is when I saw a group of young men walking up the block and I was going to approach them but they went into a store so I figure I would either just forget about taking pictures or use someone else but there is nothing like a group of men, all wearing hoodies of different colors.

So, I waited for them to come out, asked them to pose for me, and they said yes in so many ways.

(I thought their language was hard to understand sometimes because they kept speaking in Ebonics. Thank God for the young man in the blue hoodie (at the far right) he was like my translator. I didn’t know there was a gangster way of saying God Bless You?!) Like how do you learn to talk the way they talk??

Anyways, they were so kind and very photogenic.

Here are one of the photos. You will see more…
