Andre

So, my family went to Washington, DC over the Thanksgiving break and I got to see so much of my family. It was pretty exciting. Pictured here is my second cousin, Andre, who is a pianist, singer and so many other fun things; like, now he owns Moody’s Barber Shop in Gloucester, VA.  and has his own beautiful family.

I’m blogging about him because of the scarf he has around his neck. He had that scarf when I was a little girl. It looks like he just bought it. It was kept well. In addition to his scarf, I liked his casual outfit. It was put together well. His style reminds me of James McBride, the author of The Color of Water, who I blogged about a while ago.

I wonder what’s going to be my staple when I get older. I can’t name one accessory that I have that I wear all the time…maybe it’s because I’m a female? At least I know my signature look will include a hat.

Michelle Obama’s Skirt

I love love the FLOTUS skirt! I wish there was a website that told us where she got each outfit…actually, I wish there was a clothing line dedicated to her. A brand named after Michelle Obama. Wouldn’t that be awesome?!

Congratulations to Billy and Lucia

A childhood friend and sister of mine tied the knot this pass weekend. She didn’t hire me as her photographer but I was glad when she approached me and asked if I could take a few pictures after her photographer left the wedding early. I hope she likes the few pictures I took.

Congrats Girl!

Fabien

So, Fabien asked me to photograph him after he saw me taking a picture of someone else. When I agreed to take a picture of him he said he needed something to cover his face. So, I said, do you have sun glasses and he said no. At the same time, this old man came with sun glasses on…He thought I was giving out sun glasses and said I need some glasses! I need some glasses!

Then Fabien asked him if he wanted to be in the picture and he said no…little did he know I was clicking long before he said no. But I kept quite because he was also begging and I didn’t want to pay him for taking his picture.

Harry Belafonte

Over the weekend when I went to the Schomberg Center to view 100 Moments, I ran into American singer, songwriter, actor and social activist  Harry Balafonte!!

I felt really good because I was looking at Gordon Parks pictures wishing I could have met Gordon Parks when all of sudden I looked up and saw Mr. Belafonte! It was so random and even though they are two different people and are recognized for different achievements, It feels good meeting a celebrity that you actually can connect with.
